There is also the named Ancient Dracolich who drops a nice bag if you don't have a bunch of those and a named zombie. It should open and let you swim through to The Hole zone. NB Loot is rubbish but you don't have to buy any armor until 65. At 12, all start killing gnolls or skeletal ogres. The Rogue merc does melee damage where as the Wizard merc will nuke, all pretty basic. Depending on how fast you're going this place is wonderful to 38, but tapers off to just decent after that IMO. It's the only level range I feel that you should be here to the exclusion of anywhere else. I would suggest just not coming here. Youre looking to create a merc team of Tank/ DPS/ Healer. You will need help doing it though. As an alternative around 73, you can kill the pixies around the guild hall port in. If you're a new player then you'll be able to find a Mercenary Liaison right in Cresent Reach (granted if you Start there). Kor-Sha Laboratory (105-110) - Only really worked 2 camps in this zone. Lceanium (100-107) - There are a couple of decent camps here that I have used. The adds are just too intense. You will begin seeing worgs, go south down the coastline and look for some elves and humans. It takes a little while to become familiar with the layout and the mission but the mobs are reasonably densely packed and don't run. So finding a camp could be tough depending on your chosen servers population and the hour of day. There are four types of Mercs to choose from: Healing, Tanking, Rogue or a Wizard mercs. if your merc adds about 20% damage to your party then your exp will be about 60% of what it could have been solo. You can go higher, but it isn't really worth it IMO. Or will he take it out of my bank? Depending on your classes ability to swarm pull, these zones gain a lot of extra life for swarm pulls for SKs and the like. After that though it's single pulls non stop. I forget about that guy. This amounts to tens of thousands of AA's. The easiest armor sets to get will probably be the sets from Hardcore Heritage. To level up your Mercenaries, simply take them on bounties - they get XP for each fight you beat. Theres an important point to be made about this guide and why its successful. The mobs have varying levels of HP, but don't hit that hard in comparison to even other TDS content. Also something to keep in mind is if you complete the themes out of order you will not unlock the mercenaries from the theme's below it. Do the research on your own on Allakhazam. This area is great if you're a paladin as you can slay the undead and stun out the worst of the damage from the Erudite necromancers. IN ADDITION: Recently, much better versions of mercenary gear have been released that make your mercs WAY more effective. Playing live has a few benefits. A NOTE ON GEAR: If you do not go through the Mines and get your tutorial set, I recommend spending any money you can get your hands on for some Simple or Rough Defiant gear. Favorite area is the Queen's castle area. You will be murdering said spiders and slimes and other animals. The merc will cast a rez (When out of combat) to anyone in your group who is dead. Not much changes between 'minor' expansions in each leveling guide and you'll notice that the biggest change between leveling guides is Seeds of Destruction. There are three total HAs he will give you. When the mob starts to run, you want enough space for your merc team to finalize the kill before aggroing the mobs across the hall in the other room. Mercenaries are the answer to Everquests "grind" and Must-Group to level. At 55-62 move to very center area of the zone and kill bigger shades and vampires. They tank for you, heal for you, or dps for you. The orcs hit a little harder and stun more and as you push back, there are higher level drakkin. After that you need to go back to the bottom right side of the map and start killing nobles and highborn. In the second city, kill Doomfire mobs until 70. Dwarves are normally friendly, so ignore them as well. This is very repetitive, boring, and slow. Keep clearing until you reach the bridges over water in the northern most area. The Dead Hills Gribble HA's have been removed from rotation, though they are still the easiest and most reliable way to get through the levels. The water and earth giants are the easiest giants, and the fire giants aren't too bad. Doesn't apply to certain AAs, like tradeskills, etc, but its plenty sufficient for leveling. With a group of three actual players though, you can steamroll this place for GOBS of experience. Multiple mercs with heals, buffs, and DPS and you can soar through here. The idea to help in grinding to where the other players are (level-wise) is to add two additional accounts and create a 3 box team. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. He will assist the main assist of the group, or you if its just you and him. Their levels and abilities will scale appropriately and they will think and act for themselves with limited player guidance. Those are raid mobs and will have mechanics you won't be able to deal with even if you could fight them. There are some sporali that are best left alone since this isn't a hotzone anymore and some birds/birdmen in the northwest corner, but otherwise it's undead elves and humans. Fifth, Daybreak gives you an option to accept some 25% experience potions instead of your monthly 500 Cash. The temple is a pretty decent camp spot if you have to sit somewhere, though the wall of fire that obscures you view kinda sucks, and you can pull to a wall as well without much difficulty. My next endeavor is to actually give Underfoot and Seeds of Destruction another run through and see if there are any additionally effective areas there I missed. Murder the "of Fire" mobs from 65 to 68. There is also a pair of undead graveyards here that can offer some decent exp in this range for Paladins, but the mob density is all that and you're better off in another zone. Since I see a lot of people asking where do I level or is this a good spot for leveling at X, I thought I would jot down this leveling guide. The mobs are around level 28-29, so it's a lot of exp for your level. How do I fix this? It is easy to get overwhelmed at lower levels, especially with the ratmen who frequent the middle of the zone. A properly set up box group can do everything but the final mission easily. So max out at lvl 82 and grind all your final AAs here. Pretty much every single thing in The Grounds wants to eat your face, so there is less confusion and thus it's more popular. They like to run, so bring a snare. If you have that key from earlier or a rogue to pick the lock, go inside that building. But the real advantage is when you want to grind out AAs while also leveling from 65 to 80. You'll make the amount it takes to pay them and more from those 5 mobs. Leveling up in Everquest 2 is very quick these days compared to before, but . And no, fire pet is not the best dps pet in classic, it's water (and no, it's nuke is not stronger than the water pet's one . It just depends on gear if solo and number of boxes/size of group if not. This makes it so any new player can jump in and catch his friends or others as quickly and painlessly possible. The key zone for AFK leveling and AA grinding in the 65 to 80 level range is Wall of Slaughter. It will have HP, Mana, and Endurance on par with characters that do not have the gear to acquire rank 2 spells and abilities. You can pull 3-4 at a time easily and pretty quickly kill them all, moving out toward the docked ships to get higher level guys. There is a big black stone in the bottom right corner of the zone. Some of the Shissar are undead, but most aren't and they have high HP and hit hard to boot. Once you're around 96, head toward the big building in the center or the Sepulcar of Order zoneline to kill higher level guys. When you rez your mercenary you will immediately be charged the Upkeep cost on him. Blightfire Moors is also a hotzone sometimes, so this could go even faster if you're lucky. ALTERNATIVES: 30-35 Goru'Kar Mesa (PoK>Blightfire Moors>Goru'Kar) - Almar used to suggest this place as a prime place to level. Clerics especially can race through here with their undead killing spells. Owning any current expansion will also unlock these features. I recently did another playthrough and used this zone and realized I had forgotten entirely about the bottom half of the zone with the fungus men and golems. Mostly you'll be killing oashim rats and wraiths in the bottom right portion of the Tier 2 section. BEST (78-83): Ashengate, Reliquary of the Scale (PoK>Blightfire>Goru'Kar>Sunderock Springs>Direwind Cliffs>Ashengate) - I want to make it clear that the run out here is nuts. I will edit that stuff in. I came back and my toons went from level 3 to level 10!!! I will lay out a few spots to hit in this range. Also during cooldowns they will use agro reducing abilities. Moloing is effective in the early levels due to overpowered Tank Mercs, but starting in the 60s leveling takes longer and the Tank Merc becomes less overpowered versus the content. The higher the mercenaries confidence level the less chance he has of running away. Each Stance has different focuses and allow the mercs to be more or less reactive. This makes this one of the best places to grind for paladins trying to wrap up leveling or grind AAs. Don't bother with one of the far flung camps. At first, just wait. If you're geared up or grouped, kill iksar golems as well. I've done it in as fast as 30 minutes before. Inside Dead Hills, look for a gnome named Gribble Grobblenobber. From level 1-100 and from Luclin to Call of the Forsaken, all AA's but crafting are given to you for free. Some are also scattered amongst the buildings, just use "Find" to locate them. You can follow it for some exp or ignore it like most people do and just fight out of the prison and then wander the zone killing everything. Murder the Rallosians, crystal golems, and frogs. When you complete an HA you are given a three hour lockout timer for THAT PARTICULAR HA. The lower level ones spawn outside their cave, with higher level ones as you move back.
